Transforming Narratives’ free Cultural Leadership Programme now open for applications

The Cultural Leadership Programme provides a unique opportunity for artists and creative professionals in Birmingham, Pakistan and Bangladesh to engage and contribute to the curation and delivery of new projects.

Through the Transforming Narratives’ Cultural Leadership Programme emerging and established cultural leaders will build skills, confidence and knowledge.

They will also extend professional networks leaders, enabling them to learn more about the challenges and opportunities in leading collaborative international cultural activities.

• The Cultural Leadership team will host two online briefing sessions on 23 February at 10am-11.15am and 5pm-6.15pm (GMT).

The free programme is open to emerging and established leaders from Birmingham, Pakistan or Bangladesh, who have experience of, or an interest in, the arts or creative industries. Birmingham applicants must identify as being of Pakistani, Bangladeshi or Kashmiri heritage, living and or working in Birmingham.

A real opportunity for current and future creative leaders

Sophina Jagot, Transforming Narratives Project Manager said: “The Cultural Leadership Programme is a real opportunity for current and future creative leaders to take some time to focus on their career development.

“The programme offers the chance to collaborate internationally, build skills and confidence as Transforming Narratives continue to support creative and cultural practitioners at different stages of their careers in Birmingham, Pakistan and Bangladesh through the pandemic and beyond.”

The phased Cultural Leadership Programme will be delivered online between April and November 2021. The deadline for applications: 12pm, Thursday 4th March 2021.

The programme will be delivered by Culture in Flux and a team from the Institute of Cultural and Creative Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths College, University of London who will work closely with colleagues from Cultural Central to deliver it as part of Transforming Narratives.

Briefing sessions

The Cultural Leadership team will host two briefing sessions on Tuesday 23^rd February 2021 at 10-11.15am and 5-6.15pm (GMT). This will be a chance to hear more about the leadership programme and ask questions. Register your place.

Transforming Narratives is a ground-breaking project that supports creative and cultural practitioners and organisations in Birmingham to engage in exchange with artists and organisations.

It is managed by Culture Central, supported by Arts Council England and delivered in collaboration with The British Council.
